Reflections on Faith, Suffering, and Hope
As many of you know, for the last five years, we have been privileged to offer a weekly podcast of my sermons. Gwen did an amazing job editing over 260 messages, eliminating dated details and enhancing the audio quality.
Earlier this fall, she told me, “I’m out of material. The sermons that are left are either outdated or unfixable.” So, we decided to discontinue creating new episodes of The Word for Everyday Disciples. The current collection of episodes will remain available, both on our website and on other podcast platforms, but we will not be adding to it.
Then Gwen came to me with an idea. “What if we did one more episode? What if the last episode was an interview with you? What if you were able to share your faith journey over the years, as well as how your recent cancer diagnosis has impacted that?”
The more we discussed this, the more we felt that this would be a great way to wrap things up. Moreover, it would allow me to share some reflections in real time.
Thus, we reached out to Clinton Faupel—former colleague, dear friend, and founder of Remedy Live. We asked him if we could not only use the Remedy’s state-of-the-art studio, but if he would conduct the interview.
Clinton readily assented. The amazing Remedy Collaborative team graciously not only filmed the interview but also edited the material into several formats for our use.
That interview was released last Sunday, December 28. You can listen to the audio HERE or watch the full video on YouTube.
Those who have already seen it have commented that it not only helped them understand my story but also gave them hope for their own story. It’s our prayer that it will offer you hope for your story.
As we step into 2026, we don’t know what the future holds for Gwen and me, but we know who holds it. We’re confident that the One who has been so faithful in past years will be no less faithful in this new year. And that is something we can depend upon and rest in.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support and prayers for these past six months. It’s been such a blessing to have you along for the ride. We’ll continue to keep you updated.
Much love
